Club Summer Tournament

We hold our Adult Club Tournament every year, entry to which is open to all senior members of the Club plus selected juniors invited by our coach to participate. Knock-out rounds continue through Spring and Summer concluding with Finals Day in the Autumn.

Last year's Finals Day was on Sunday 11th September when members & family & friends watched a day of competitive tennis. which included a plate competition for the first time.

In the men’s singles final 16 year old Ross Tobin was hoping to repeat his first senior finals victory from last year but came up against experienced James Booth who dominated the match winning 6-1 6-0. Defending doubles champions and number 1 seeds Adam Fowle and Nigel Fitch proved to be too strong against the exciting new pairing of Josh Dashwood and Jake Warner however and came through as 6-4 6-3 winners

Ladies singles champion for the last two years, teenager Abi Cartwright-Thomas retained her title again winning a hard fought first set 7-6 against Olivia Becher and then an easier second set 6-1 However Olivia got her revenge in the ladies doubles teaming up with past winner Marcia Armstrong to beat Abi and regular partner Lucy Hardwick 6-4 6-2

The championships concluded with the mixed doubles event when Adam Fowle and Abi Cartwright-Thomas proved to be just a bit too strong for opponents Ian Terry and Marcia Armstrong winning in straight sets 6-2 7-6.

The Plate men's singles went to Jake Warner beating Adam Fowle 6-3 6-4, with the doubles going to Ian Terry & Stuart Read 6-1 7-6 against Robin Miller & Peter Cundall.
